Thanksgiving Weekend fun

This year Thanksgiving was with the McMullin's so on Wednesday morning, Tuck and I drove up to Oakland to hang out. He instantly found all the tractors and amused himself all afternoon with them. Jay came up after work and pretty much everyone except Uncle Trap was there by dinner.

Grammy had planned on 33 relatives coming over for Thanksgiving dinner so we all tried to help get ready. I'm not exactly a big cook or anything, but I did try making a sweet potato casserole, it actually came out pretty good. Anyway, around noon everyone started showing up and pretty soon the house was full. A lot of my cousins have kids around the same age as Tuck so they had a ball. I wasn't sure how well he'd share being it his "territory" but he did well and the kids had a lot of fun. Luckily we had him nap before the big feast so he was full of energy and really had a great time.

Jay and Tuck stayed out of the Black Friday early morning festivities, but I got up at 4:30am with Grammy and Grampa Mac and we hit Augusta. There were lots of good deals and I got most of my Christmas shopping done. The weather was really nasty out so unfortunately we had to spend the rest of the day inside. Luckily Tuck can keep himself pretty entertained with tractors so he just played. Auntie Amy, Auntie J and Uncle Jeffy all took turns playing with little man and he was not shying away from the attention. Lucky little man!

On Saturday the weather wasn't much better so it was much of the same. Tuck really wasn't sleeping well all night but luckily he napped very well! Grammy Lyn and I brought him into Fairfield to get his first official hair cut and he sat really still. I was very impressed because he definitely did not sit that still for me. His hair looks really cute and he looks like a big boy now.

Grammy Lyn took Tuck and I out to Wendy's for lunch because he was such a good little boy and Tuck got to dip his french fries in ketchup. He is all about dipping things, it's really funny. He's also decided that he doesn't need a high chair anymore and sat on the bench seat with Grammy. Someone thinks he's a big boy for 21 months. After lunch we made a quick CVS stop and pushed Tuck around in the car cart. That was an adventure but he was pretty easy going and was up for anything.

Jay, Tuck and I went over to Mike and Kim's later that night for dinner. They got to experience a piece of his "not so indoor voice" because he was very focused on the ceiling fans. He gets stuck on one thing and doesn't let it go. It's funny but can also be very loud. Kim made us a big lasagna and we hung out for awhile, until Tuck got really sleepy.

Today was a beautiful day and luckily we got Tuck outside early on. He was ready to go out and play. Everyone was doing something outside so he took his car and drove all around the yard. Around 10am we drove over to Waterville to visit with Grammy EE and Papi. We played tractors inside and had a nice lunch. Tuck loves to watch all the birds and fish in the house too.

After a nice visit, Tuck got his nap in the car as we drove to Wiscasset to drop off a car and then home. We had some serious unpacking to do when we got home and we also had to warm up the house because Jay likes to turn the furnace off when we go away. We played for awhile, ate some turkey soup Grammy Lyn made us, had a bath and then Tuck was in bed by 7pm. It was a fun weekend visiting family but it's also nice to be home. Hopefully Tuck sleeps all night in his own bed...

Learning to throw the ball!!!

After a fun day shopping with Grammy Lyn and Auntie Janet in North Conway, we spent Sunday around the house. The weather was nice, perfect for playing outside. After Tuck's nap, we all went out in the yard for a bit.

Tuck has been practicing throwing a ball to Casco. He loves to play with her and frankly we're just happy when he's not hitting her. We found a tennis ball and he was rolling it to her all day. When she chased it around the house he would follow her and yell some sort of "drop." It's really cute.

We found a tennis racket and let him play with that too. The best part though was when Daddy kept throwing the ball on the roof and watching it drop. He even tried a few times! Our neighbor, Derek, stopped by to play with him as well. As far as I can tell the little man is getting quite an arm!

Working outside with Daddy!

We stayed home this weekend and had absolutely no plans! It was actually quite nice. Early Saturday morning, Jay bundled Tuck up and the two went outside to work in the yard. Jay gave Tuck a rake to help him with leaves, it was so cute.

By the time I got the camera out they had moved on unfortunately. I did catch Jay dragging Tuck out back on a tarp full of leaves. Tuck was smiling from ear to ear and sitting very still. It was the cutest thing I've ever seen!

Today the weather was a lot nicer and warm, so Tuck got to hang outside with Daddy again while he was working on the garage. Our neighbor, Derek, came over to hang out and play with Tuck as well. I brought down Tuck's tools so he could be just like Daddy. Luckily he didn't seem to curious with Jay's tools but Jay unplugged them all anyway.

Fun weekend of working around the house. We did clean out a closet today though which will be in the baby's room. I'm 32 weeks now and getting bigger by the day. I'm still not sure how much Tuck understands, but he is becoming more aware.

My little Picasso!

Tuckerman loves to color! Every day for the past couple weeks when we get home from work, Tuck points to his crayons. Then he climbs into the "big boy" chairs and grabs his paper. He is very careful with his crayons and holds them really well. Tuck will use one color for a couple seconds, then switch to another, etc. He is also very proud of his artwork and we have started hanging them on the fridge.

After a few minutes of drawing, Tuck puts the crayons back in the box and then takes them back out. It's really fun to watch because he is so focused on what he is doing. I think I'm going to try to find him a little desk/drawing station to leave in the dining room so he won't fall out of the bigger chairs.

I think all of this started from reading "If you give a Mouse a cookie" to him over and over. At one point the mouse grabs a bunch of crayons and draws a picture. The book shows the mouse lying on his paper with about 8 crayons and Tuck loves that part. He has to count the crayons by touching each one and opens right to that page every time. It's great!

Visiting Grammy and Grampa Mac's

Here are some fun pics from Auntie Janet while we were visiting the family yesterday. Tucky wasn't feeling great but he was very happy to see everyone and celebrate Uncle Jeffy's 23rd birthday!

Of course Grampa Mac got out the tractor for some rides and Grammy made him some chicken soup to bring home. Meanwhile, Auntie Janet, Amy and Uncle Jeffy got to play with the little man.

Curious George on Halloween!

Curious George he was!!! That was a very fitting costume for Tuck on Halloween night, he was definitely a little curious and would have wandered off if we weren't right on him.

After spending the day at home and getting a brief visit from Grammy, Grampa Mac and Uncle Jeffy, we headed down to Portland to go Trick-or-Treating with Meacy and the kids. EE and Papi came down to join in on the fun too!!! We got there in time to have dinner with them and boy were the kids excited...well mostly Evelyn!

For some reason Tuck woke up yesterday morning with a cough and runny nose, so he really wasn't feeling great and didn't eat a lot. However, as soon as we got the monkey suit on him and hit the outdoors, he felt much better.

We met up with some of the kids friends from the neighborhood and started walking door to door. Their neighborhood somewhat shuts down and there are a lot of kids out and about so it's a really nice, safe place for Halloween.

As soon as we started out, Tuck grabbed Jay's hand and was running down the street. He was so excited and I was laughing so hard. Everyone has steps at the front door so that was the hard part for Tuck and Spencer, but that surely didn't stop them. The kids walked house to house and Tuck insisted on carrying his little pumpkin bucket. Meacy gave them all light sticks and they had a blast carrying that around too.

I can't remember how far we were into trick-or-treating but Tuck started for figure it out. He hustled from house to house and pointed to the people opening the doors and handing out candy. He carefully picked his pieces and spent a little extra time at a house with a guy handing out fancy Halloween pencils with erasers. He picked up four or five before settling on one, and the guy was cracking up!

He started to try to grab more than one piece of candy and we reminded him, just one little Tucky. By the end people were giving him 2 or 3 pieces and he kept looking in his basket, and even though it was so heavy he was dragging it on the ground, he wanted to carry it.

The kids lasted for a lot longer than I thought. I was getting tired myself and Tuck walked for a lot of the time, although we did end of carrying him a little. Luckily it was a super warm night, so we didn't have to worry about the kids getting cold. Around 7pm, we decided to wrap it up and head back to Meacy and Dave's. We took off costumes and the kids jumped into their buckets... and we let them eat pretzels to start. They were wound enough as it was. We played there for awhile and then around 8pm, we put Tucky in his pj's and headed home. Late night for the little man, but he was having such a good time with his cousins!

I think Curious George was a great costume for him this year, but by the excitement on his face, I'm thinking Tigger next year....he'll be bouncing down the street!
