Starting bananas with rice at Penobscot

Tuck playing with the bottle, and finishing his bowl from his first day with bananas and rice cereal!

So this weekend we decided to try some bananas with rice cereal for Tuck. He's been so hungry lately and the only time he's upset is when he wants more. I've been giving him between 6-8 oz. at each feeding and don't think he needs more liquid? So, Grammy Lyn and I mixed some banana baby food with his rice cereal, and he loved it! He ate the whole little bowl full and even tried to grab the spoon a few times to help himself.

Tuck's more and more aware of everything going on around him and doesn't want to miss any of it. He's been napping pretty well, but he wants to stay up to see the action. It was a rainy weekend, so we stayed inside down at Penobscot. We hooked up a swing on one beam for him, and he loved that too. He just wants to play, whether on his back, in his exersaucer or with anyone who's talking to him.

So Tuck is a lot of fun to be around and he's getting to be a strong little man. No longer is he content laying in his bouncy, he wants to sit up on someone's lap at the table. We are going to hook up a high chair next weekend. He tried to get out of whatever he's laying in: changing table, bouncy seat, whatever. He can sit up with just a little support and he's started grabbing at anything and everything in sight. He is also starting to turn his head when you say "Tuck!"

Daddy giving Tuck raspberries...

Chatterbox!! He loves to hear himself talk!

Strawberry patch first timer

Grammy Lyn and I brought Tuck to pick strawberries for the first time yesterday morning. We got up early, because he does, and went out for breakfast so Tucky could meet my parents "early morning coffee regulars." Then we drove to the strawberry patch and luckily the sun wasn't too hot at 7am. We picked 10 boxes (pints/quarts?) of strawberries while Tuck sat there and talked to us, and everyone else around too. He was so good, just sitting there having a good old time. I gave him a strawberry to hold, thinking he'd try to eat it, and he just held it...and tried to eat his other hand. You can take this little man anywhere!

Auntie Janet came to hang out as well, and Tuck got to perform for even more of an audience. He loves it when people talk to him, and of course he's very easy to talk to. Hope, my parents dog, was so protective and careful with him. She got up very close to him, after circling a couple times, that gently put her paw on his shoulder to shake. Then she sat down and kept her paw on his shoulder... and Tuck try to pull her hair. He's got a good grasp!

One thing I've been noticing lately is that Tuck's nap are people dependent. If he's at home with me, boring-snoozefest, he'll take long 2 hour naps. If there's other people around, he doesn't want to miss a thing, so he fights it and will nap for about 30 minutes. I guess that could also be because we weren't at home? We'll see how the weekend goes. We're heading down to Penobscot!

He loves the morning!

Happy, happy, happy in the morning. He loves to talk and be talked to! I was upstairs in the shower while Jay was feeding him and I could here him babbling. 4 1/2 months is a great age! We took Casco to the vet yesterday, which was a sight- me holding Tuck in his carseat and Casco on the leash, and Tuck did very well. They asked me if he was always that easy...Yes, he's a pretty mellow little guy.

The last several days, Tuck has taken some nice 2 hour morning naps. He's such a good little sleeper. Oh, we also tried oatmeal cereal yesterday, but I'm going to try again in a couple days because he spit up a lot. Although that is normal on some days for him.

Tuck's life jacket came in last week so I'm hoping we can test it out this weekends. We'll probably hold off on whitewater until next year... :)

What a flirt

Tuck loves the camera...he always looks into the lens and is very easy to take pictures of! He loves it if you talk to him, and gives you this very cute smile.

Casco didn't leave his side today, even when he was napping. This morning she heard him banging his crib and she got nervous, so she waled into his room and laid beside the crib. She's been so good to him!

I forgot to post Tuck's 4 MONTH OLD STATS from his appt. Friday.

17 lbs. 6 oz (90%)
26" long (85%)
44cm head (90%)

Yes, he is a healthy BIG boy!

He was playing with Casco and I but turned his head around backwards to see the tv...uh oh

Never know what you're going to find..

Every morning for the last 3 weeks, Tuck has woken up between 5:30am and 6:30am. He doesn't cry, instead he kicks and looks at his mobile, smiling, cooing and making a lot of squealing noises. Sometimes I check to make sure he's not screaming, but every time I walk in there, he's having a blast. He is moving like crazy and it's always surprising to see how he's moved during the night and where he's ended up.

This weekend it was Tuck and Daddy time, I had to work sea kayak guiding. They had a great time, and Tuck even took some longer naps. He's been eating like a champ, and he's really hard to fill up. We've been trying the rice by spoon in the morning and before bed, but he's not a big fan yet.

I'm off on summer break now, so I'm really looking forward to hanging with Tuckster everyday!

Fun w/Hayden and Margo

Tuck has been having so much fun with Hayden and Margo. They have been taking such good care of him, and he's been coming home wiped. Here are some pictures of them from today... tomorrow is his last day with them, he'll be sad because they've been such great entertainment for them! Thanks Hayden and Margo!
love Tuck

Tuck was ready to play when we got home! I fed him and then we played with some tummy time and in the exersaucer. Neither of these are especially great after you've eaten, so it got a little messy, but he loves it! One more day of school for me and I'm home for the summer! Back to full Tuck time again!

Last day of school

Today was the last day at school with kids, but we have two more workshop days. Tuck spent the whole day with Holly, Hayden and Margo again. They had a great day, and Tuck even took good naps. He's up to eating 6-8oz. at a feeding, he's growing like crazy. I'm really looking forward to Friday to find out about his stats! He's solid rock.

Jay met us at Holly's for dinner, which was nice, and Tuck didn't last long. He was beat and fell asleep a couple times. We fed him, and he passed out in my arms. He woke up briefly when we put him in the carseat, but was out within 10 minutes of getting home.

So I've found out that Tuck loves Finding Nemo. When the kids have it on, he'll sit there and watch it, kicking quietly. He loves to talk and play when he's being changed, and especially loves it when someone is talking to him.

4 months old!

Exersaucer babbling!!!

Everyday Tuck does something new and exciting. He has found his voice and we love to hear it. Tuck turned 4 months old on Saturday! It's amazing to see how much he's changed and he keeps getting more fun everyday! He loves the exersaucer and he's getting to be very strong. Plus, he's been sleeping from 7pm to 6am for about 2 weeks now! We're psyched. I can't wait to be home with him this summer!

Crooked River Elementary School mosaic

Last week, all of our students got to help us work on the bean mosaic of the Crooked River Elementary School logo! They all made their own mosaics too and they came out unbelievably well! The CRES mosaic will be hanging in our school and is made completely of beans and rice! We used red beans, kidney beans, black beans, pinto beans, yellow and green split peas, lentils, pearl barley dyed blue, white rice dyed blue, chick peas, buckwheat, a mixed rice mix, corn kernels, broken bits of tri color pasta. It's amazing what you can do with everyday supplies, and this is such an inexpensive craft. The kids loved it and it has definitely sparked a lot of ideas.
