Snow day - not feeling so hot - BLANKIE

We have had some short weeks with all this snow! Wednesday was a snow day and today a two hour delay! That means more Tuck time for Mommy! We got to sleep in and hang in our PJ's yesterday...until the fleece on Tuck's PJ's collected heaps of Casco hair...gross. Tuck took a nice long morning nap and afternoon too. We played in the snow a little but he wasn't psyched. Jay got out a little early so we all got to hang out together.

Today was a 2-hour delay so Tuck and I took our time and I dropped him off around 9am. He has a nasty diaper this morning so I was hoping he would do okay at Cindy's. She called me around 3pm this afternoon because he got sick in her car and all over himself. I'm not sure if he ate something or has a little bug, but he hasn't eaten anything different and doesn't have a fever. He almost fell asleep on the way home and as soon as we came inside he wanted to play. I was expecting to cuddle on the couch but Tuck wanted down and did circles around the house. He had a huge dinner appetite, lots of baby food and cheerios, plus his juice. Jay picked him up some Pedialyte and he downed that too. Tuck was out cold by 5:45 and we haven't heard from him since. I had my soccer games tonight so Jay watched him...although when I got home Jay was out on the couch and told me he threw up too. Must be a bug, hopefully a quick one.

Tuck's Blankie - Months ago when Tuck was a little guy, he became attached to this waffle textured blanket so I bought about five more to have on hand. This blanket is with him all the time and he loves it. He will grab it and suck his thumb, hide under it but he always falls asleep with it. The last couple days Tuck has crawled over to his blanket on the floor, laid down on his belly and started sucking his thumb and his blankie. It's so cute. It almost signals sleep for him and definitely calms him down. He doesn't care which one, we have several and Cindy keeps one nearby too.

One of the newest Tuck things is that whenever I am on the phone, he puts his fist to his ear and says "hi!" He's done it many times the last couple days and it's so cute. I have to get video of it because he's really picking things up. He's babbling and saying some words and really responsive. He's still cautious with walking which is good but he's getting much stronger. Changing his diaper is like hog tying a calf because you really have to work at it. Lately his diapers have been really messy so it's extra hard. He is a strong little bugger and constantly flips himself over. I'm sure you can imagine how that goes.

Cough, walker step and hanging with Grandparents

Tuck, Jay and I have had a sniffle all week but it's on its way out. It hasn't bothered Tuck too much except the coughing. We've been very lucky that he's so healthy! Friday afternoon Tuck and I headed North to Grammy Lyn and Grampa Mac's house. We got up there in time so he could play for an hour or two before bedtime. Jay came up later after work. It's been several weeks since Tuck's seen Grammy and Grampy so he was quite excited, although not as much as them I'm sure.

Jay and I both worked at Sugarloaf Saturday so Tuck got to hang in Oakland with Grammy, Grampy, Auntie Janet, Auntie Amy and Uncle Jeff. They had a great day playing with Tuck and I know he got lots of attention! He is a super busy body, always on the go. He used his walker a bunch and made loops around the kitchen. I guess they took his shoes off so he could get more traction walking and he loved it! By the time we got home he was already asleep but we were happy he had such a great day.

I don't know if it was the dogs barking or something else, but Tucky got spooked and woke up around 4am. He was kind of tossing and turning so he joined us and none of us slept great after that. He was a little stuffed still so I think that was bothering him. We got up around 7am and Tuck got to eat his first french toast and bacon. He likes it, surprise surprise. He'll eat anything. It was good to give him a break from oatmeal for a day or two. We could tell by the "mmm" sounds that he liked it and if Grammy Lyn slowed down too much he would let her know.

The nice thing about not skiing today was that we got to visit with EE and Papi, and get home at a reasonable hour. Tuck and I made it back to the house at 2:30ish and he was in the middle of his afternoon nap. I let Casco out, got the paper and read in the car until he woke up. I normally wouldn't wait that long but where's he's been stuffy and not sleeping as well, I sat in the car for over an hour. He was well rested when he woke.

Tuck was very vocal this weekend and he's making a lot more sounds. We've heard him say "Mumma", "Dada", "dog", "ball", "hot" and a few others. I can't tell, other than a few times, if he knows what he's saying but he's already a smart little bugger and he's picking things up quickly. Every day he's learning something new. I especially like how today he crawled around with a car in each hand and made, "vrm" noises! It was adorable!

New room and more sledding with cousins

Tuck loves playing in his new room and I love having a place for him to play. Jay and I were throwing ideas around for the last year and this was the easiest/cheapest and I think, best scenario. For right now, he has a crib area with a rocking chair and changing table but as he grows and becomes more aware, this might not work. Especially once he's moved to a little boy bed from the crib.

Tuck and I drove into Portland to hang out with Meacy, Dave and the kiddos. With all this new snow we had to get out and enjoy it. We bundled the kids up after lunch and walked down their street to the park. It was so beautiful out and the snow was great. I accidently tipped Tuck's sled over so he got another whitewash. Luckily it was fairly warm out so we kept going. The kids took turns and we pulled them down a good size hill so they were going plenty fast. Tuck liked it but I think the whitewash was still fresh in his memory. We really need more of a strap system to hold him in.

We spent some time sledding and then really enjoyed the big banks in front of their house. We took turns throwing the kids in the snow and they loved it. Tuck plunked right down and starting patting the snow. It was really cute. We also got some great pictures of the three of them.

We were pushing the far end of Tuck's afternoon nap so we packed up and headed home. I was hoping he'd wait to nap until we got there but he instantly fell asleep and I couldn't make the transfer when we got home so it was a shorter nap. We was zonked tonight after four days of playing hard!

Meacy passed along a walking toy that Spencer used and it's great. You can adjust the resistance, which I can't do with ours, and Tuck used it to take about 10 steps this afternoon. He and I were both shocked so he let go and sat down...then did it again!

A little over $2.00

Snowy day shopping! I hit up my favorite store, CVS, today and I bought a lot of goodies and it cost me only $2.43 out of my own pocket. I had many coupons, CVS extra bucks and printables so I was able to save a lot! I bought almost $70 worth of goods. We are really learning to save a lot of money and it's actually fun! I can't wait to teach Tuck, although by then I'm sure he'd probably rather work in the shop with Daddy than coupon with Mommy...

Tuck's first whitewash...

We decided to stay home this weekend because the weather was going to be so cold, and it was! We also took the weekend to do some room changing at home. We decided to switch rooms with Tuck so that he can have the bigger room for a bedroom/playroom.

Grammy EE came to visit on Saturday and Meacy brought the kids up too. We played inside and had lunch together, and even got to go outside and sled a little. The kids had so much fun over Christmas when we went sledding out back so they were pumped to do it again. It was chilly but they were well bundled and there was some great snow.

Last night Tuck slept in his new room and woke up at 7am, 13 straight hours later. I guess he finds it comfortable! As did we because we have blinds now and it felt like it was still dark. Anyway, we woke up to a good snow falling with several inches already on the ground. It snowed hard all day! After lunch we brought Tuck outside for a sled/walk. He didn't seem to mind the constant snow in his face and the fact that his super long eye lashes were snow catchers. He was so cute!

We took some pictures on a snow bank and decided to walk back home, we had only gone down the road a little bit. The snow was very deep and one side of Tuck's sled was in a tire track and the other in deep snow. The sled tilted a little without Jay knowing and Tuck leaned right over burying his face in the snow. He wasn't a big fan of the whitewash and I ended up carrying him home in my arms because he cried a little. Although a minute later he was laughing at Casco jumping in the snow. He's such a good little guy!

As soon as we got inside, he continued playing like nothing happened. We worked on his playroom all afternoon and gated Tuck in there too. It was amazing, he played with his toys while we worked for several hours. He loves his room! I'll post pictures tomorrow!

11 months old! "muma"

Tuck is 11 months old! It's hard to believe how quickly these 11 months have flown and how much he's learned! Today was the first day Tuck held out his arms and said "Muma." I was so excited and picked him right up. We have four days together this weekend and I can't wait! After having two weeks off for Christmas vacation, it's tough going back to work but Tuck's in good hands during the week and I can tell he really likes it.

Tuck has gone from standing and holding on to sometimes just standing and balancing. He's very strong but is actually pretty cautious when it comes to taking steps. I think he's fallen a couple times hard so he's careful about what he does. He spends all day standing and recently has started climbing, anything and everything. I found him climbing up the stairs and he has made it up to the fifth stair with us behind him. Once he looks down though, he gets scared.

One of Tuck's new favorite games is to go into the bathroom and close the door. The he opens it, closes it, etc. Luckily he hasn't ventured in anymore than that although one day he totally unraveled the toilet paper roll. Boy did he love that! Every day is a new adventure!
