Beautiful Saturday!

Tuck and I packed up the car early this morning and headed over to Auntie Janet's house for a visit. Tucky got in a little nap on the way over so he was ready to play when we got there. We first started at the Topsham Library book sale at boy were we excited to see kids book 50 cents to a dollar. Tuck and I found a ton of great books and we walked out with a bag full! Auntie took him back to her house while I went to get a special hair cut...(Janet set that up for the bday!)

Meanwhile Grammy Lyn and Grampa Mac drove down to visit as well. Tuck was very excited to see them and he was especially excited when they pulled out a little convertible ride-on car. Although Tuck is more into pushing it around than riding on it now. It's really cute to watch. We grabbed a little bite to eat then drove down the road to go apple picking. Tuck is really into apples! and pumpkins.

Tuck got to ride in the wagon as we walked around and Grampa Mac picked the nice red apples up high. He sat still and munched on an apple and was a happy boy. It was really cute. You can hear him humming in the video too! On the way out, we picked up an apple crisp and apple spice doughnut for Tuck. He was loving it and that gave me enough time to get us back to Janet's house and back in our car for the drive home. We had a great time and Tuck crashed immediately.

After getting home and checking in with Daddy, Tuck and I grabbed a quick drink and drove to the Windham Primary School to play on the playground. Most of the equipment is for older kids, but we played on the slides and he was really interested in climbing. He likes the big slides too and it probably looked funny having the pregnant mommy ride down the slide with him... Luckily he didn't want to crawl through the tunnel! Great day, and after dinner, the little man was ready for bed!

Aunt Meacy found Tuck the tricycle in the picture and he has been having a blast trying to get it around the house. He can barely reach the pedals but does well scooting himself around and steering. I wish I had video of him pushing Jay around the house, it was too cute!

Apple picking, fun with family

Another sunny weekend!!! After our first full 5 day week back at school/daycare so it was nice to stay put this weekend at home. We all slept in Saturday morning, woke up around 8ish, had breakfast and just hung out. We met Meacy, Dave and the kids around 10:30 at Thomson's apple orchard in New Gloucester for some early season apple picking...and fresh doughnuts! We started out picking a few apples and then found these huge work horses and got a quick ride around. Tuck was not psyched at first because I think he was scared of the horses, but eventually he enjoyed the ride.

The kids were pumped to find all the apples and I think Tuck tried more than we collected. He loves his apples! We picked about half a bag, they were actually pretty good, and then we headed up for some cider and fresh doughnuts. Evelyn was very excited for everyone to try the doughnuts, then Tuck was very excited to eat them! It was so nice out so we played in the grass and near the pumpkins. It's really a great place to take the kids, we'll probably go back later in the season for more.

We had lunch at the house and spent the afternoon playing with the cousins. Tuck and Spencer took naps while Jay taught Evelyn how to paint the shed. It was really cute! Then we all took a nice long walk down to the Basin before parting ways and getting Tucky ready for bed.

Today was nice again and after spending the morning at home, we drove down to Meacy's and hung out with Uncle Andy, Aunt Kristen and Grammy EE. The kids were psyched to have so much company and after a great lunch, we had a little struggle to get Tuck to take his nap. Eventually he did and slept for about an hour thirty, before waking up and getting right back to playing again. We spent a little time outside in the backyard playing before coming home and getting ready for bed again.

Great weekend. Oh, the pics of Tucky and Auntie Amy were from Friday when Tuck and I drove down to the Cheverus field hockey game! Go Cheverus!

Another sunny weekend down at Penobscot!

Daddy headed up to the Penobscot River this weekend for a rafting trip so Tuck and I rode down to the coast with Grammy Lyn and Grampa Mac. We are very well set up down there so it's very easy to just show up for the weekend. Tuck loves hanging out with family because he gets lots of attention and playtime, plus Mommy gets to relax a little more than at home... Uncle Jeffy and Tucky are really starting to bond, especially when there are race car shows on TV. Tuck has never shown much interest in TV but he and Jeffy stared at these fast cars on TV, I wish I had my camera handy, it was really cute.

On Saturday morning, we got up fairly early and went out to breakfast in Waterville. Tucky ate a good breakfast of eggs and bacon. When hungry the kid can eat. Then we drove down to Penobscot and arrived still early in the morning to enjoy the sunshine. Tuck didn't miss a beat and found all the tractors, his toys and the golf cart right away. He loves anything with wheels.

Sometime after lunch we all decided to go over to Blue Hill and play some golf. Tuck napped on the ride down so I figured he'd be able to nap later in the day if he needed. I didn't have the stroller so I carried the backpack and sometimes Tuck in it. He did so well. I tried carrying him on the longer stretches and would let him walk around the greens. He loves playing with the flags and putting golf balls in the hole. I actually couldn't believe how well he listened and how cooperative he was. We easily played 7 holes and he was content doing whatever. I could tell he was getting tired though and backpacked him the last couple holes...not so easy to hit with him in the pack but he didn't seem to mind. It worked okay for the short game.

After a bath at Aunt Janet's house, Tuck hit the sack and slept great all night. He woke up Sunday and was acting a little funny and was super thirsty. After a morning boat ride around Castine Harbor and an afternoon nap, Tuck woke up with a fever. He was really thirsty and fussy again. We took his temp and gave him some tylenol and he immediately settled down and started playing. Luckily we were heading home shortly after so he could rest in the car, although he didn't nap again. He did eat a little for dinner and the fever had passed, so we drove back to Windham and Tuck had ended up sleeping well. Luckily this morning he felt a little better as well.

Labor Day Weekend - Blue Hill Fair

Four days of gorgeous weather means lots of outdoor fun! Tuck and I packed up Friday morning before his 18 month appointment so that shortly after we could drive down to Penobscot. His appt. went well although he wasn't psyched with the shots, luckily they didn't bother him after a few minutes. So Tuck at 18 months is:

length - 34 1/4" (91%)
weight - 25 lb. 12 oz. (46%)
head -

He is healthy and doing very well for his age. All that running around lately has slimmed him right down but he's still tall and strong!

After Tucky's appt., he and I drove to Freeport to hit the big Patagonia sale and then Osh Kosh of course. We found some good deals and bought this really cute down snowsuit for Tuck's new sister-to-be for the winter. Meghan and Sage joined us and after some shopping and a little lunch, we were on our way.

We arrived at the coast around 5pm as Grammy Lyn and Grampa Mac were mowing lawns. After stretching and playing a little, we all drove over to Blue Hill to go to the fair. Friday night was the infamous antique tractor pulling so naturally we had to go see that. We brought Tuck last year when he was about 6 months, so it was neat to see him react to everything this year. It was a bit overstimulating I'm sure, but he did really well! We looked at tractors, visited all the animals and even ended with a merry-go-round ride. Tuck really liked looking at the animals, especially the large work horses while we were eating. The little man ate a whole hot dog and bun, I couldn't believe it. It was a late night for Tuck but he did really well and went right to sleep when we got back.

After a late night at the fair, Tuck slept in a little with Daddy and had one of Grampy's special "egg McMullin" breakfast sandwiches. So much for sharing with him, he ate the whole thing himself. A few of us went over to play golf and Tuck stayed with Jay and played outside. I came home as he was getting up and we spent all afternoon outside watching Uncle Jeffy and Jay play frisbee. Tuck kept trying to join in then would grab his little golf clubs and play too. It was cute. Jeffy went back to play more golf, so I sneaked out again and played another 9 holes. It felt really good despite having to constantly alter the swing with the bulging pregnant belly.

Sunday we also hung out around the farmhouse, playing in the sandbox, going for golfcart rides and playing with Auntie's and Uncle's. Tuck took an earlier nap so I sneaked out again to play a round of golf - I was playing the best I have in a long time so why not? When Tuck woke up, Jay got him ready and they met me in Blue Hill. Jay really wanted to watch "Timber Tina" and the great Maine lumberjack show at the fair and take Tuck back to see the animals again. He got a little more brave this time starting to pet the animals, but when the sheep "baa-ed" at him, he started crying and wanted nothing to do with them. The piglets were his favorite and we went back several times to visit them. We finished off by Jay taking Tuck to the top of the big slide and sliding down together. I thought he'd like it and he did, as soon as he got off Jay's lap, he headed back to the line and wanted up again.

After the excitement of hitting the fair again, we had a big dinner down at Uncle Forbes' house. While everyone was getting ready, Tuck played with the big Tonka truck and ended up riding around in it. He laid on top of it holding on while people pushed him back and forth. I wish I had my camera, it was very cute....well until he crashed. He was fine. Again, we had a big dinner of BBQ ribs, ice cream and it was approaching 8:30 and Tuck was still wired. That's way past his bedtime, but he was doing well and again went right to sleep when we got home.

Labor Day was beautiful and we spent the morning playing outside again. I played another 9 holes of golf and then realized that I was pushing it and need to take a big rest. Jay left after lunch and drove home to work on our house a little, while Tuck and I took our time. I wanted to leave around his naptime, but he wasn't sleepy and ended up not falling asleep until about 3:15pm in the car, just before we hit Augusta. Luckily we got home in time to unwind from the event filled weekend and get ready for the week.

We had a great time down on the coast this weekend with family!
