Fun with tractors...second cold

Tuck got a cold this past week and was having trouble sleeping at Cindy's. I had conferences two nights so I didn't even see him until the morning. Luckily I had Friday off to spend with him and we got in lots of sleeping. His nose was running and he had a cough so we took it easy. He was feeling better later in the day and playing well, so we packed up the car and drove to my staff get together for an hour or so.
Jay decided to get Casco and head North so we met at Grammy Lyn's for the night.

Tuck actually slept really well and woke up just as Jay and I were walking out the door for the mountain. We both were working up at Sugarloaf so Tucky got to spend the day with his relatives! They had breakfast and Grampa Mac brought Tuck to the Hammond Tractor open house day...yes, lots of time looking and sitting on tractors. Tuck apparently loved it, although not as much as Grampa Mac, I'm sure!

Tuck napped all afternoon and was doing well. He got to play with his Aunts and Uncles before bedtime. We didn't get back until 8ish so we missed him, but luckily he was sound asleep and feeling better.

Sunday morning was nice because we all went out to breakfast in Waterville. By the time we got out it was actually Tuck's second breakfast, but he'd eat even if he wasn't hungry. He had eggs, part of omelet, bacon, home fries, etc. The little guy can eat! Tuck fell asleep on the drive home so we transferred him to his crib and he slept for another two hours. I was so happy we was catching up on his sleep, he needs it but he's a super light sleeper. I let him play for awhile and eat lunch at Grammy's before driving home and he napped on the way home too.

There were lots of steps this weekend for Tuck and he is really gaining confidence. He spends most of his time standing and you can see him look around and think about walking, but he's quite cautious luckily. He loves using the walker and is a little adventurer! In fact, he spent quite a bit of time maneuvering between and through the stools. It was hilarious! Tuck's in a super fun stage, I just want him to get past this cold.

Busy weekend with lots of family!

Mom and Tucky day on Friday, Saturday with Grammy Lyn and the crew and Sunday with Daddy, Mommy and the Roy family in Portland. We were all over the place and Tuck was such a good boy, although a tired one.

We slept in Friday morning and barely got up in time to go to the Gorham gym with Jill and her boys. Tuck had a great time and was pretty tired by the time we left. We hung out at home and packed so we were ready to head north in the afternoon. Unfortunately I locked the car keys in the house, so we couldn't go anywhere until Jay got out of work early. We made it to Grammy Lyn's before dinner so Tuck could play with them a little before bedtime.

Jay and I both skied Sugarloaf on Saturday, so Tuck got to spend the whole day with Grammy Lyn, Grampa Mac and Auntie Janet. They drove down to the coast to check out her house and took Tuck out to lunch at McDonald's for his first hamburger, which he apparently devoured. He was asleep by the time we got there, but he had a great day!

Today we had a breakfast of French toast and Grampa Mac's fresh syrup before heading South. Tuck approved of the syrup for sure. We drove to Meacy and Dave's for Grammy EE's birthday party. For some reason Tuck was really sleepy so it took him awhile to wake up for everyone. He showed off his new steps, 3-4 at a time, so we all could see. They had a great lunch and we got to sing to EE. Shortly after though, the boys were tired and Tucky fell right asleep. We hung out for a little longer and then left when Uncle Andy, Aunt Kristen and EE left.

I think Tuck's cutting some more teeth because he's been drooling a ton and a little fussier than normal. He's still eating really well but I can tell something's bothering him. Great weekend but definitely nice to have a few hours this afternoon at home, instead of driving south from Sugarloaf.

More steps for the little busy body!

With the recent change in extra daylight, we have been able to come home and play for a couple minutes before starting the whole dinner/bedtime routine. Tuck is all over the place, room to room and then up the stairs. He is learning so much and has quite the personality.

For his first birthday, Tuck's cousins gave him this ball slide thing that you hit with a hammer. Tuck absolutely loves it and has really good coordination. He lines up the balls and pounds them down the chute. I don't get my hands anywhere near that thing when he's ready to hit.

We played for a few minutes in his room and I had to chuckle when he picked up his crobar and pounded nails. Grammy EE got him a bunch of plastic tools like his Daddy's, but I haven't been able to get him to leave the safety goggles on yet. He sure loves to make noise!

This past weekend Grammy Lyn mentioned that Tuck kept saying "Dum, dum." She couldn't figure out how he picked that up, but we realized that he's retelling the Dr. Seuss book, "One hand, two hands, Drumming on a drum", or something like that. He loves the book and wants it read to him all the time. Cutie pie!

Monday night is coupon night so I clipped what I needed and headed out to CVS and then Walgreens. There were some decent deals but I didn't realize how well I was going to do. After all was said and done, I had purchased over $60 worth of stuff and ended up making two dollars. I'm still not totally sure how it worked, but I made $2 tonight and walked out with bags of stuff. The cashier at Walgreens did a double take and said, "we just paid you $0.84 to stop and shop here tonight, plus you got all this?" We were both shocked. I really like the coupon thing but I got to start working it more for the food stockpile, no more toothpaste.

Beautiful weekend at the Loaf!

It was the most beautiful weekend at Sugarloaf, warm with soft snow. Both Jay and I volunteered this weekend, he was trying to get in his 21 ski patrol days and I was helping out with Maine Handicapped Skiing. Grammy Lyn, Auntie Janet, Auntie Amy, Uncle Jeffy and Grampa Mac were all there and got to watch Tuck too.

We drove up Friday night after supper and Tuck instantly fell asleep, good boy! We got to Sugarloaf around 8:30 and Tuck woke up while we tried to bring him inside. Of course everyone was really excited to see him so they had to say HI. Tuck instantly saw cookies so Grammy gave him a cookie and milk. He's not spoiled at all. I was thinking it would be hard to get him to sleep again, but after the midnight snack, he went right to sleep.

Grammy Lyn played with Tucky all day Saturday while most of the bunch skied. He had a great day playing and hiding from Grammy. She took him outside to go sledding too. I got back to the condo around 3:30 and he was beat so I put him down for a nap. He woke up 1 1/2 hours later when Daddy arrived. I got the whole gang together and we went down to The Rack where the Maine Handicapped crew was. It was a bit crowded but really fun to see everyone and Tuck did very well. I think it's good for him to get out and socialize like that, even though I'm sure it's overwhelming. We only stayed for a little bit because we had to get Tuck fed and off to bed.

Tuck slept really well and woke up after 6am. We put him in the upstairs room with Grammy and Grampy because it muffles the sounds much better. He had a great night! Jay and I both worked again because Grammy and Grampy were headed back to Oakland to take care of the sap trees so Tuck went with them. We had quite a day skiing, beautiful and warm, but Tuck got his first maple syrup lesson.

First Grampa Mac brought him around to empty the sap buckets, then they loaded the wood stoves and there's quite a little syrup operation going on again. I remember fetching the sap buckets when I was really little so I was happy to hear Grampa Mac was getting it started again. We picked Tuck up just before his bath and dinner, and then packed up and off we were to Windham.

New things: Tuck must have seen someone blowing his nose because he grabbed a napkin and pretended to blow his nose three times. It was so cute. He also crawled into the study at Grammy's house and reached for the telephone. He apparently knows he's not supposed to do that because he looked at Grampa Mac and shook his head no. Then he started to reach for it again and shook his head no. He's really picking up a lot and loves to imitate people! He also will blow raspberries and laugh until he gets someone's attention. Every day he learns something new and we just love every minute!

Taking first two steps!

Tuck has been standing and walking by holding or pushing things for a couple months now, but he's getting much stronger. He spends most of his day standing and has started to hold on with one hand when walking. He's actually pretty cautious, which is a good thing, but you can see him gaining confidence every day.

This week at Cindy's he definitely got a lot more brave and she said he started to try out some steps. As soon as Jay got home, we played with Tuck downstairs and he took two steps from one couch to the other. Of course I didn't have the camera ready, surprising. So on Friday after work, I got out the camera and Tuck wanted me to read him a book so he reached out and gave it to me. I put my hands out and slowly moved them back making him step. He took two steps and got to me, so we did it several more times and he kept laughing. It was great!

I picked Tuck up after school one day and Cindy mentioned that Tuck was becoming somewhat of a nudist... Apparently after playing in the play yard for a little bit, he decided to take off his shoes, socks and pants. Cindy found him standing there in a sweater and a diaper. That's hilarious!

Traveling to Jay Peak

We spent the weekend at Jay Peak, VT, where there is the best glades and most snow in the East...usually. We didn't get any of the good snow but we did get in some good spring skiing. Josh, Meghan, little Sage, a few of their friends and our gang all rented a condo on mountain! Ski-in, Ski-out! It was a sweet place, perfect for little kiddies to play and sleep, and perfect for the parents to ski too!

We took turns skiing, Dad's in morning, Mom's in afternoon, vice versa, and we had a great time. There are some trails I would love to ski again with powder!! There are some amazing glades and Meghan and I got some good footage too.

The kids did so well, slept well, played hard and were easy! It was nice having both there and they really did very well! Plus, they went to bed early so there were some crazy card games after hours too.

We got home today early because the skiing wasn't worth it today. Tuck napped for two hours, all the way from Jay Peak to North Conway. We saw a sign for Tuckerman's Tavern and had to have lunch there. It was actually really good and we even bought a T-shirt! Tuck shared some chicken fingers and salad with us. Jay gave him some lettuce and he really liked it, I couldn't believe it.

We got home and Grammy EE brought Casco back for us which we totally appreciated it! Tuck was in a playing mood so they got to hang out. It was still very warm out so we brought Tuck for a walk. We let him walk as far as he could and he was screaming because he was so happy. It was hilarious!
