6 Weeks Postpartum and Post-op!!

6 weeks ago Tuckerman was born and I thought that I wouldn't be skiing until next year. It's amazing how the body heals and I feel great, but I still have a lot of weight to lose. I have skied the last 3 weekends, but really "skied" this weekend and it was amazing! I love when my muscles feel used! Luckily we have family who want to watch Tuck so we can steal a few runs. We really can't wait to get him out there, although we'll wait a year or two...

Hanging with the Grammy's

We had a lot of playtime this weekend! Friday we spent time with Tuck's cousins, Evelyn and Spencer as well as Aunt Meacy and Grammy EE. Then Jay and Tuck hung out with Grammy EE in Waterville while I had my First Aid/CPR training. On Sunday we were at Sugarloaf and Grammy Lyn watched Tuck while Jay and I skied.

It was a great weekend, but after 2 good nights of sleeping while visiting family, last night Tuck was up at 2am and had a hard time settling because of bubbles. He would go down for a bit, but really didn't sleep well after that. Today too he was very restless and fussy, and he wouldn't let me put him down for more than 30 minutes. So I didn't do much today except hold and take naps with him. Hopefully tonight is a little better!

6 Weeks Old!!!

Yes he is and he's growing so much! Actually I think he's in some kind of spurt right now because it's 7pm and I've fed him 8 times already today. Every 2 hours or so he's hungry and he takes a lot. These 6 weeks have really flown by, although some evenings I didn't think so. He's grown a ton already and today I had to go through his clothes and actually pack up some of them because he's too big. I bet he's over 10lbs. now!

Tuckerman and I had a good day, he took a couple big naps on his own, we went for a walk in the stroller, and we played a lot this afternoon when Daddy got home. He was so alert and he loves to bounce on my lap. He's very strong and has great neck control for a little tyke. It was obvious about 20 minutes ago that he was starting to fade and as soon as I changed positions with him, he dozed off. Jay just got him ready for bed and we'll try to put him to bed, well for a little bit at least!

The little guy likes the sun!

He's been taking his morning nap in the sun and just loves the warmth! He had 3 really good long naps today and has been learning to fall asleep on his own. I put him down when he's really tired and after a few minutes of fussing, he goes into a deep sleep. We had a really good day!

self portrait

Tuck and I had a low key day and since he was so wide-eyed, we or I, decided to snap a bunch of pictures of us. He's a blast to be around and he's becoming much more alert everyday!

Cutie Pie!

We all had a good night last night and felt pretty rested. Tuck is hilarious... he makes the funniest sounds, especially when he sleeps. Sometimes it's hard to tell if he's awake or not. We did nothing this morning, lounged around and then went for a walk when it warmed up. I dressed him in a lighter fleece outfit today and he was so cute in it, and he's starting to fill his clothes up a little more. Basically I hold him and take pictures all day... then when Daddy comes home I do housework and we hang out by the fire. What in the world did we do before we had him???

Easter Weekend

What a busy and eventful weekend visiting family and spending time in the car. Friday
afternoon Aunty Janet picked Tuck and I up and brought us to her house. We got food ready for her purse party and Tuck did well with all the ladies. Jay met us there and we drove to Belgrade to Grammy Lyn and Grampa Mac's. All of her friends were there and took turns passing the sleeping little guy around. Jay and I took a nap until they left and he needed to eat. We had an okay night, Tuck's first at that house, but he had some bubbles early in the am.

We got up fairly early Saturday morning and drove to Sugarloaf. It takes us a bit longer now to get going, but Tuck rides easily in the car so that really helps. We had decided that Jay was going to take care of Tuck while I skied and then we'd switch after lunch. It worked out great. It felt so nice to get out and ski, plus I found some good powder stashes and got my groove on... well for about 5 turns and then I needed a break. I skied for about 3 hours and then met up with the Maine Handicapped crew in the lodge for the end of season BBQ. Around 1:30pm, I went back to the condo to switch with Jay who had just fed Tuck for the second time.

I tried to keep Tuck up for a little bit, and succeeded for a little while, well until I fell asleep with him. I think I got my first real smile today... We were playing and he was looking at my face as I was making funny faces, then he looked at me and smiled.. and no there was no gas!

After skiing we headed to Grammy EE's to meet up with Uncle Andy and Aunt Kristen, who hadn't met Tuck yet. We had a great dinner visiting and Tuck was doing really well, especially being such a long and busy day. We stayed at my folks house in Belgrade again.

We got to sleep in a little this morning because Grammy Lyn took Tuck for a couple hours. We then gave him a sink bath, which he actually enjoyed. One of Jay's coworkers had given us a fleecy Easter suit for him and it was so cute! I love the ears! Around 10am we drove to Portland to Aunt Meacy and Uncle Dave's for Easter lunch. All of Jay's family was there and we got to hang with cousins Evelyn and Spencer. Tuck slept most of the time, but was very friendly. We had a wonderful lunch and got out for a walk too!

We just got home around 6pm, and after unpacking and having dinner, we are chilling out with our newly acquired digital cable. Tuck just ate and is starting to fall asleep. We had a great weekend, and got some fun pictures.
(I'm looking forward to dressing him up again... I've gotten a few comments about stuffing him in an Easter basket...wait until Halloween :)

baby pictures

I found these 2 pics of me when I was born and saw a slight resemblance... I'll try to get a few of Jay to add too.

Sleepy boy!

So after a couple rough nights, all of a sudden, Tuck is sleeping very well. He's still getting up every 3 hours, but then feeding and going right back to bed. The last couple night have been great. In fact Jay got up this morning and told me that Tuck slept from 10:30 - 4:30, but I told him that I fed him at 2, but he ate a little and went right back to bed. Not bad!

So I was expecting him to be awake today but he really wasn't. He went down for a quick morning nap, and then slept from 11 to 2:15 and then from 2:45-5:15. I tried several times after I changed and fed him, to keep him up, but he was sleepy. It's now 8 and he's up, but drowsy. He's laying under his floor mat jiggly thing and is starting at the bright dangling things, fading off, opening his eyes and fading back off. Occasionally he'll make noises too. He's been very easy today, wonder what tonight brings....

I called his pediatrician today because a few people have mentioned his yellowish tint. It's not nearly as bad as it was, but we're keeping an eye on it. The doc said it's still working its way out of his system so it shouldn't be a problem. I also started putting a bib on him after he eats because he spits up a lot. This has saved changing his clothes 2 and 3 times a day.

sun baby

We had a great start to the night, but then around 3am, Tuck got some bad air bubbles and needed to get them out. Around 4:15am, he had a major blowout and instantly felt so much better. He was still gassy after that, but we got a little more sleep. I think that maybe a little formula was harder for him to digest and it took a little more to get out. We'll try a couple more days though and see how he does.

I gave him a sink bath this morning and he likes the warm water. He doesn't like being naked but didn't mind it as long as the warm water was on him. I can't wait to take him swimming sometime. As I dressed him in the sun in his pack 'n' play, he got quiet and just took in the rays. He laid there for about 20 minutes, suntanning... which is good because some think he's still has a yellow tint.

Good night sleeping!

I fed Tuck as soon as we got home last night and we put him to bed. I bought this Snuggle Nest Sleeper thing on Friday and I've been using it ever since with him. It has definitely helped him sleep longer and in a better position. Last night he woke and fed at 9pm, 12:15am, 2:30am and 5:30am. Then he snuggled with me and let me sleep in until a little after 8am. I'm definitely feeling more refreshed today.

We had breakfast this morning and after playing for a little, Tuck started to get sleepy. I tried rocking him to sleep and several different positions, but he didn't quite doze off. So I decided to go get his Snuggle Nest and put it into the pack'n'play downstairs. He squirmed and made noises for a couple minutes, but then fell asleep on his own!!!

Monica came over to visit and we took a nice long walk, although Tuck decided he needed to cry the whole way, which he really had never done before. I gave him my thumb and he was happy until we got home and I could feed him.

I had been talking to a few people about giving him a supplemental bottle of formula at night, to help hold him a little longer and also give me the opportunity to pump and build some supply for him. Jay tried about 8pm and he took about 3oz. no problem. We're going to try once a night to see how this works and hopefully then my supply will be a little better for him too.
